Steyning Festival 2026

Saturday 30th May: 3pm - 7pm. TEA AND TREES TOUR

SFT are working with the Steyning Festival Team on our Tree Tour 30th May,
2026, 3 - 7pm where you will be able to see them. You can go by bike, car or on foot to see these hidden gems in and around Steyning. Situated in lovely parts of our town in beautiful settings, with
nature and hedges being nurtured to increase biodiversity. As well as tea at Mouse Cottage. Come and sit in our re-natured garden, or conservatory, providing a home for wildlife now including hedgehogs. We can’t guarantee that they will appear for you but it is a haven for wildlife as well as the lovely flowering plants that have always been here.
Hopefully the damselflies and dragonflies that breed in the pond here, will, if it is warm enough, make an appearance. Something to look forward to.

Steyning Festival 2026

Tuesday 26th May: Rev Peter Owen Jones

We are so pleased to let you all know we have managed to secure a talk by the REV PETER OWEN JONES, the author, broadcaster and environmental campaigner who writes a regular column in the SUSSEX LIFE for the Steyning Festival next year.  His latest article is entitled "A HEDGE`S TALE".  When we managed to track him down, as he used the same stats as we do in the Newsletter, we had a good chin-wag about the loss of biodiversity. We have let Nicky Mason and Nick Linfield Chair and Vice Chair of the FESTIVAL know.  They have kindly kept us informed  that they hope to have all the talks buttoned up by Christmas.  Peter was so kind and gave us jam, his book Conversations with Nature and a copy of his DVD of the programme he did  on the SOUTH DOWNS, with their support (one of many he did  for the BBC) .If anyone wants to borrow the DVD let us know.
